ROBERT WUN

Context/Objective

ROBERT WUN is a London based fashion designer. Presenting story telling collections through modern artistry and craftsmanship. Looking to explore narratives of visibility and liberation in fashion. Born in Hong Kong, Wun was discovered by Joyce boutique for one of his collections at London college of fashion in 2012. His tailoring expertise breathes new life into shoes and accessories, all inspired by the worlds of cinema and nature.

This project asked to create a coffee table book based on the artist's work. Pulling from Robert Wun love and admiration for nature and horror, creating a visually impactful book cover along with a structured interior layout that emulates his unique take on high fashion.

Approach

Looking to create an impactful book cover I decided to use one of his most famous works “the burnt down gown” visual as the front cover and a detailed look on the back cover, making for a striking and approachable book design. The interior spread is as creative and unique as his pieces. Using bright, vibrant imagery and characterized type to emphasize his fresh take on fashion design. With his pieces being so visually striking, I decided to make the type secondary to the images so the visuals take the forefront.

Outcome

The finished book beautifully embodies Robert Wun's vision as a designer and creative. Looking back, creating it was a truly rewarding experience, filled with stunning visuals and layouts that tell stories of nature and horror.
