VERNISSAGE POSTER

EMERGING

Context/Objective

Looking to Design a poster to announce the Dawson College 2024 Graphic Design vernissage and exhibition. That showcase the unique attributes of the graduating class.
Vernissage blur

Approach

Being in the program for 3 years I've witnessed my personal growth throughout and how it has led me to become the designer I am today. Going from someone who knew little to nothing about grids, hierarchy and visual impact to a designer who has a trained eye for these essential design principles. This journey of “emerging” is what inspired my poster concept. The design represents our growth, transitioning from raw potential to skilled designers.

My design aims to capture the essence of “emergence” without using the word itself. Three overlapping semicircles symbolize the three years of the program, representing our journey as students. The use of a blur effect on the semicircles reflects the gradual acquisition of knowledge. The blur progressively lessens as we move towards the top, signifying the increasing clarity and refinement of our skills throughout the program. This use of a vibrant blue and red color palette creates an eye-catching and satisfying visual experience. The Sans serif light type complements the design without overwhelming the overall image.
Exhibition poster

Outcome

The result is an impactful visual that delivers a clear message, making it perfect for grabbing the viewer's attention. Creating something so personal but yet relatable caused for a strong poster.
